Engineering Problem Solving With C: An Object-Oriented Approach by Jeannie A. Ingber,

Engineering Problem Solving With C: An Object-Oriented Approach by Jeannie A. Ingber,
Best-selling author Delores M. Etter and computer science and engineering educator coauthor Jeanine A. Ingber provide an introduction to engineering problem solving with an object-based programming approach using the ANSI C++ programming language. The authors employ an easy-to-use problem solving methodology to consider a diverse range of grand challenges, including prediction of weather, climate, and global change; computerized speech understanding; mapping of the human genome; improvement in vehicle performance; enhanced oil and gas recovery; and engineering simulation. The emphasis on engineering and scientific problem solving remains as an integral part of the text. "Introduces engineering problem solving with the following objectives: " To develop a consistent methodology for solving engineering problems. To illustrate the problem-solving process with C++ through a variety of engineering examples and applications. To introduce the concept of object-based programming and the features of C++ that support it, while focusing on the fundamentals of programming. "Key features: " Presents a five-step process used consistently throughout the text for solving engineering problems. Introduces objects early in the discussion of data types and standard input and output. Discusses fundamental capabilities of C++ for solving engineering problems, including control structure, data files, and functions. Provides flexibility in covering topics. Exposes the reader to the template functions. Addresses one-dimensional arrays and Matrices with an introduction to the vector class. Explains programmer-defined classes, including overloaded operators and inheritance. Explores the use ofpointers and dynamic memory allocation. Includes an introduction to dynamic data structures using classes supported in the C++ Standard Library. Offers an Instructor's Resource CD-ROM with Microsoft PowerPoint presentations.

The Childes Project: Tools for Analyzing Talk: Transcription Format and Programs with Book by Brian Macwhinney,
The Childes Project: Tools for Analyzing Talk: Transcription Format and Programs with Book by Brian Macwhinney,
This third edition -- expanded to two volumes -- describes three basic tools for language analysis of transcript data by computer that have been developed in the context of the Child Language Data Exchange System (CHILDES) project. These are: the CHAT transcription and coding format, the CLAN package of analysis programs, and the CHILDES database. These tools have brought about significant changes in the way research is conducted in the child language field. They are used with great success by researchers working with second language learning, adult conversational interactions, sociological content analyses, and language recovery in aphasia, as well as by students of child language development. The tools are widely applicable, although this book concentrates on their use in the child language field, under the assumption that researchers from other areas can make the necessary analogies to their own topics. This thoroughly revised third edition includes documentation on a dozen new computer programs that have been added to the basic system for transcript analysis. The most important of these new programs is the CHILDES Text Editor (CED) which can be used for a wide variety of purposes, including editing non-Roman orthographies, systematically adding codes to transcripts, checking the files for correct use of CHAT, and linking the files to digitized audio and videotape. In addition to information on the new computer programs, the manual documents changed the shape of the CHILDES/BIB system -- given a major update in 1994 -- which now uses a new computer database system. The documentation for the CHILDES transcript database has been updated to include new information on old corpora andinformation on more than a dozen new corpora from many different languages. Finally, the system of CHAT notations for file transcript have been clarified to emphasize the ways in which the codes are used by particular CLAN programs.

Data recovery - Data recovery is the process of recovering data from primary storage media when it cannot be accessed normally. This can be due to physical damage to the storage device or logical damage to the file system that prevents it from being mounted by the host operating system.

Recovery program - Recovery program is a program usually used to help a person get over an addiction like alcohol or gambling.

Compact flash recovery - Compact flash recovery refers to data recovery from flash memory devices that have had data stored on them corrupted. This can occur from various reasons, though the most common one is due to removing the device while data has been written to it.

2005. Definition of Database Before going on, we need to briefly define and describe “database.” A database is a respected international authority on ecosystem studies of freshwater, estuarine, and marine environments. Recoverability is the DBA’s most important concern. The recovery tes...
